Kinect -- Will This Be The End For The Nintendo Wii?

The famed Nintendo Wii has experienced a good run, but its future's not looking so great any longer because of Microsoft's brand new piece of computer hardware, Kinect. Nintendo's once revolutionary entertainment product is now looking very old hat.

After the Nintendo wii gaming console arrived it was revolutionary and took the computer gaming world by storm. It delivered video gaming to the masses thanks to its control which imitates the player's actions and actually enabled just about any person to play computer games. Even really old people who had never enjoyed a video game before in their whole lives were suddenly able to grab a controller and play tennis games or golf etc.

In many ways it appears the Nintendo wii console has paved the way for Kinect. The Wii delivered video games to a significantly wider market and it looks like Kinect will dominate that same market.

Kinect is an add-on to the Xbox 360 which rests on top of your TV just as the Wii sensing unit that also is placed on top of the Television. The difference is the fact that Kinect actually scans your body movement meaning you do not even have to have a controller in your hands.

The Wii appealed to so many due to its simple controls, but the Kinect doesn't have any controls whatsoever therefore the appeal will be even higher! It also offers voice recognition which means that you are able to issue instructions just with your speech. Couple that with the fact that it utilizes the Xbox 360 hardware which is perfect for generating HD graphics that's light years beyond what the Nintendo wii console is capable of!

For the foreseeable future, it looks as though Kinect will take over from the Nintendo wii console. It will be interesting to find out what Sony and also Nintendo will come up with next!
